Last time we talked about the second P of the modelling industry - plan. Now it's time to talk about the last P - preparation.
Preparation: Once you have done all your homework and did all you can to arrange a meeting with the prospective agency at your planning stage, now it is time for preparation. Such as life, few things go to plan, so are you mentally and emotionally prepared for what is to come, both good and bad? You are embarking on an industry known for its cutthroat and ruthlessness. One day you are a star and the next you are forgotten and replaced by the next up and coming model. Are you really wanting to enter this world? Even if the agency agrees to accept you onto their books, that will not be your only 'audition'. You will be facing auditions for the rest of your modelling career where you will be judged every step of the way.
So after meeting the agency and in the unfortunate event that you do get knocked back and sent home, how will you feel? Are you mentally and emotionally prepared for this rejection. Note this rejection is not a personal attack of you as a person, because they are only meeting you for the first time and do not really know who you are as a person. They are looking at your marketability and how they can satisfy the majority of their client's demands. They are seeing how you can benefit their business and that's what it is... a business. Remember that they are not the only working agency and that there are plenty more agencies out there.
